Match Review Panel – Round 8

Match Review Panel – Round 8

SYDNEY star Lance Franklin is in the clear, while Richmond skipper Trent Cotchin has escaped with a $1000 fine over incidents from Round 8.

The Match Review Panel found Franklin’s contact with North Melbourne’s Sam Durdin in yesterday’s win at Etihad Stadium wasn’t a striking action and a free kick was sufficient penalty.

Cotchin was cited for striking Fremantle’s Lachie Neale in the opening minutes of the Tigers’ loss to the Dockers at the MCG.

Also facing $1000 fines are Hawthorn vice-captain Isaac Smith, Brisbane Lion Eric Hipwood and Melbourne’s Bernie Vince.

Geelong’s Cam Guthrie was cleared of making contact with umpire Justin Schmitt in Saturday night’s loss to Essendon.

Meanwhile, the AFL wait for responses from the clubs involved in the St Kilda-Carlton and North Melbourne-Sydney matches before deciding what fines will be handed out in connection in melees in both games.
