2016 Shonky Awards
Have you heard of Shonky awards? Well these are awards that companies do not want to win.
The awards have been handed out by consumer advocacy group Choice and they highlight some examples of dodgy services and products out in the big bad world.
This years winners include:
Samsung – Winning its second Shonky award in a row for releasing over 50,000 potentially dangerous smartphones only to recall them a matter of weeks later due to phones bursting into flames.
AMEX – The credit card giant received an award this year due to promoting a surcharge free campaign while maintaining one of the highest cost cards on the market.
Nestle’s Milo – The chocolate drink and ice cream topping received an award for it’s 4 ½ star health rating when mixed with skim milk however contains around 46 % of sugar.
Green & Clean’s Bottled Air – The product sells air from Bondi to the Blue Mountains for a lucrative overseas tourist market costing over $200 and offering around 255 breaths it was awarded a Shonky by Choice as it was selling air.
