Locals in parts of Mildura, Nichols Point and Bruces Bend are still being told it’s not safe to return to their properties.
An Emergency Warning has been re-issued for the areas, with authorities saying the flooding may last for several weeks in the area while crews are continually monitoring levee banks around the region.
Residents in Iraak, Nangaloc, Hattah, Red Cliffs and Boeill Creek are being urged to remain prepared to evacuate if the warning to do so is issued.
Watch and act messages also remain in place for the Murray between Red cliffs and the South Australian border remain in place to avoid flooded areas.
Meanwhile, a community meeting is being held at the Millewa Community Complex this afternoon for locals to find out more about the flood situation.
Projected peak dates:
The Murray:
Boundary Bend may peak around 10-12 December, with major flooding. A prolonged peak is possible through to late December.
Euston may peak around mid-December (13-15 December), with moderate flooding. A prolonged peak is possible through to late December.
Mildura Weir is likely to peak around 21-22 December, with moderate flooding. A prolonged peak is possible through to late December.
Wentworth may peak around late December (25-26 December), with major flooding. A prolonged peak is possible through to early January.
The Darling:
Menindee Town is currently steady, with moderate flooding. The Darling River at Menindee Town is likely to remain around the current level until at least mid-January.
Pooncarie may peak late this week (9 – 11 December), with minor flooding.
Burtundy may peak around mid to late December at around major flood level.
