Mildura Police have received reports of people ignoring road closure signs and driving through flooded waters in the region.
They say cars are creating a bow wave which then eats away at the levee works in place to protect properties, distressing local residents already worried about rising river levels.
Police say they may have to start discouraging these dangerous behaviours by enforcing the road closed signs which carries a fine of approximately $200.
