Federal MP Anne Webster claims the Labor Government’s Fair Work Legislation will threaten small to medium sized business across the electorate.

She says there are several issues in the bill relating to multi-employer bargaining.

And while both Labor and the Coalition want higher wages, Dr Webster says there’s NO evidence the legislation will deliver on that.

“Being coerced into bargaining based on some vague ‘common interest’ test, which could simply be a small flower retailer in the same complex as Target, is fundamentally unfair,” Dr Webster said.

Business Council of Australia Chief Jennifer Westacott says that even with Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke’s concessions, critical industries could be swept up in disruption.

Australian Resources and Energy Employer Association CEO Steve Knott says the legislation was purely about ’union power, union revenue and ALP donations’.
