Mildura Health Foundation Board Director, Ms. Amanda Phillips and Managing Director of Prestige Staffing, Mr. Grant Beggs have confirmed a $50,000 donation to support the construction of the Dr. Julie Zrna Centre, an accommodation hub for people travelling to Mildura to receive radiation cancer treatment.

“When I heard about the Mildura Health Foundation project, it hit me right in the heart for a couple of reasons,” Mr. Beggs said.

“One – purely what it is – accommodation for people going through cancer treatment and two – the Foundation’s vision of where they want to go in terms of a quality, connected health care service.

“Cancer touches so many people and for those living in northwest Victoria and far west New South Wales, its impact is so much greater – travelling to Melbourne or Adelaide – all the drama that goes with that…

“I was shocked to learn that many people refuse treatment because the cost and everything associated with travelling away was too much. To get this hub built; to have quality treatment options here, that is a game-changer, and I knew we had to support it.”

Ms. Phillips said that because of the financial support of individuals and organisations such as Prestige Staffing, stage one construction of the accommodation hub will soon commence, and she encouraged other businesses to follow Prestige’s example.

Mr. Beggs backed the call for more donations, saying he felt it is ‘almost a requirement of businesses’ to give back to the community and that the Foundation is a powerful way to do it.

“It’s just the right thing to do.”
