October 23, 2024 6:31 am in by

The latest update for Broken Hill, Menindee, Tibooburra, White Cliffs, Wilcannia and surrounding communities was issued yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 22 October 2024, 17:30pm.

Power has now been restored to impacted Far West NSW communities.

This followed a prolonged power outage after the back-up generator that supplies power to the region tripped on Monday 21 October.

Crews inspected and restarted the generator, and it is now running.

Serviced were connected over several hours, with some people having power restored before others.

Consumers were asked to minimise energy use during this evening peak period and continue using generators where possible until after 10:00pm as power was being restored.

Transgrid and Essential Energy crews remain onsite at Broken Hill to commission additional generators.

More generators are also on their way to provide additional back-up supply, while emergency work continues to rebuild the transmission network damaged in severe storms.
