Wentworth Shire Council has extended the nomination period to allow outstanding members of our community to be nominated for the 2025 Australia Day Awards to Monday 2 December, 2024.
These awards recognise the achievements of individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to Wentworth Shire, and provide an opportunity to reflect, respect, and celebrate the people who make our community a better place.
Mayor Linklater emphasised the importance of the Awards, stating, “Australia Day is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible contributions of individuals and groups who work tirelessly for the benefit of our community. These awards recognise those who inspire us, foster unity, and help to make Wentworth Shire a great place to live. It’s a day where we can all reflect on our shared history and celebrate the values that unite us.”
Awards will be presented in five categories:
• Citizen of the Year (18 years of age or over on 26 January 2025)
• Young Citizen of the Year (Under 18 years of age on 26 January 2025)
• Environmental Award (Individuals or groups)
• Sportsperson of the Year (18 years of age or over on 26 January 2025)
• Young Sportsperson of the Year (Under 18 years of age on 26 January 2025)
