Locals are being urged to keep a close eye out for freight trains during the harvest season, with at least four services a week carrying grain from Mildura to Ararat.
The trains take the grain from the Mallee and Wimmera to Geelong and Melbourne ports.
Authorities say it doesn’t take long to slow down and look out for any oncoming trains on the lines in Victoria’s north-west during the harvest season.
