Mildura Rural City Council Libraries now has a new, easy-to-use way to preserve our region’s precious history following establishment of a permanent preservation station.

Based at Mildura Library, the preservation station allows users to digitise personal videos, DVDs, Super 8mm film, negatives, photos, documents and other items.

Mildura Mayor Helen Healy said the new equipment would provide an easy way for the community to preserve their memories for future generations.

“This is a great way for our community to digitise and preserve their personal memories, in doing so further building on the work to preserve our region’s local history,” Cr Healy said.

A pop-up preservation station will also be available at the Merbein, Murrayville, Ouyen and Red Cliffs libraries as part of continuing Mildura Rural City Council Libraries’ Rural Outreach Services.

Community members wishing to use the preservation station are required to book a training session with library staff to familiarise themselves with the technology.

They can then make a booking to digitise their precious memories themselves during library opening hours.

To book a session please contact the Mildura Library on 5018 8350.
