It’s been a hotter, drier summer in Mildura with the mean maximum temp two degrees higher than the long term average.

That combined with almost two thirds lower than average rainfall has made this summer a scorcher.

The city’s hottest day fell right near the start of the three month period, a high of 45.3 degrees recorded on December 16th.

The heat turned up in February however.

It’s usually a bit cooler than January but this year it was the region’s hottest month of the summer, with an average maximum of 34.8.

The first week of February saw Mildura Airport record four days with above 40 temperatures.
