Calls for more ED beds

There are calls for the Victorian Government to say when they’ll provide another 30 beds for Mildura Base Public Hospital’s Emergency Department.

Mildura MP Jade Benham has raised the matter in Victorian Parliament Question Time, saying an elderly woman with a suspected heart attack was brought to the hospital from Robinvale District Health.

She says the 86-year-old died later in the night after spending six-hours on a gurney in a hallway while waiting for a bed.

The local member says that’s not good enough, and that the government has to step up and support the community and staff who care for patients
