Cat Abatement Plan drafted at Federal Government level

Household limits and cat curfews are on the Federal Government’s agenda to protect wildlife and cut Australia’s feral cat numbers.

Labor has drafted a Cat Abatement Plan with reports it could require states to pass laws empowering local councils to reduce pet numbers. 

Mildura Rural City Council says cat owners within the municipality need to ensure their felines are confined to their property at all times. 

There’s also a limit of two cats per urban and non-urban household.
