Fire crews will be on high alert this week, as temperatures are forecast to hit 40 in Mildura on Wednesday.
The CFA has the fire danger rating for the Mallee listed as Extreme for Wednesday at this stage.
It comes as the fire danger period is now in force across the Swan Hill local government area, meaning there are restrictions around fire.

That includes not burning off without a permit.
