Freshwater catfish release

April 1, 2025 9:42 am in by

More than 25-thousand freshwater catfish are set to be relocated to new homes.

The Victorian Fisheries Authority says the native species have been moved from private dams at Hopetoun and Woomelang to ten waterways including Sandilong Creek near Mildura.

The authority says it’ll help create more recreational fishing opportunities in coming years and that there will be more fish being released into suitable waters in coming weeks.
