Water releases from the Menindee Lakes will be gradually increased over coming weeks to prepare for more water from heavy rain and flooding upstream.
Water NSW says the lakes are currently at more than 100 per cent capacity.
It’s expecting up to twenty seven hundred extra gigalitres to arrive until the end of December.
It says will increase the risk of flooding in the Menindee area and downstream.
The organisation is set to increase releases from 28GL/day to 36GL/day.
The Bureau of Meteorology expects river levels at Menindee to reach near 9.6m by November 16, and the NSW SES is advising residents in low-lying areas about Menindee to prepare to evacuate.
