Growers and water users have been left frustrated at the drop in the Murray River.
Work started this week to reinstate weirs at Mildura and Wentworth which were taken out ahead of the recent floods.
On the NSW side of the river Wentworth Shire Council have imposed emergency water usage in Gol Gol and Buronga, and Geoff Gunn, Director of Roads & Engineering says it’s due to the extremely low levels.
Wentworth Council is trying to get a lower suction line into the Murray River for one of the raw water pipes for Gol Gol.
Water may only be used for internal domestic use.
No external use is permitted for town filtered or raw water in Gol Gol and Buronga townships.
This includes automatic sprinklers which must be turned off during this emergency restriction period.
Swimming pools are prohibited from being topped up via automatic or manual means during the emergency period.
