Junction Rally returns

July 5, 2024 8:37 am in by

The Wentworth Junction Rally is back this year.

It hasn’t been held since 2017, with the 2020 event cancelled due to COVID and last year’s event was called off due to the floods.

The event gets underway with the PB Mundoo holding a Mildura to Wentworth Cruise this morning.

The rally itself is being held tomorrow and Sunday, allowing locals and visitors to take a closer look at paddleboats and vintage machinery.

The rally was first held in 1992 where people want to show items from a time gone by.

Meanwhile, a petition is underway to save Paddle Steamer PS Ruby.

Locals have organised the petition on Change Dot Org, after finding out the historic vessel wouldn’t be taking part in this weekend’s Wentworth Junction Rally.

They’ve called on the council to recognise and respect the community’s ownership and right to access the piece of local heritage.

Residents have also asked for the Shire to work with community reps to set up a fair and transparent process for managing and accessing the steamer down the track.
