A record-breaking knock from Mildura East opener Liam Naylor has seen his side in a dominant position at stumps on day one of the two day clash against Merbein.

Naylor belted 260 runs in an innings which included 29 fours and 7 sixes on Saturday, with East declaring on 373, sending Merbein in for the last ten overs of the day.

At stumps Merbein were three-for-16.

Naylor’s score surpasses Scott Steel’s 235 for Irymple earlier this season as the highest score in the Sunraysia Cricket Association.

Meantime in other Sunraysia cricket clashes, Coomealla Wentworth has already succesfully chased down a target of 145 set by Mildura Settlers while Irymple had a strong showing with the bat making 266 against Mildura West.

In the women’s competition, the semi-finals have been locked in.

Minor premiers Mildura Settlers host Nichols Point while second-placed Mildura West will take on Coomealla Wentworth.

It comes after comfortable wins last Friday for both Settlers and West saw each team finish the season with just one loss each.

The winner of each semi-final this Friday will play in the Grand Final.
