Local representative grills telcos over unreliable connectivity

December 3, 2024 7:24 am in by

Independent Member for Murray, Helen Dalton, has slammed the unreliable digital connectivity in rural and regional NSW.

“We sent a man to the moon half a century ago, but we still struggle to get a reliable internet connection in rural NSW to today,” Helen said. “How is that situation allowed to occur?”

“We shouldn’t have to put up with endless blackspots, unreliable internet connections, and on again, off again satellite coverage,” Helen said.

Ms Dalton has met with key telecommunications stakeholders, including representatives from Telstra, Optus, and NBN Co. in Albury yesterday.

The meeting was initiated by the Member for Albury, Justin Clancy, the Member for Murray, Helen Dalton, and the Riverina and Murray Joint Organisation (RAMJO).

“In 2024 we all expect reliable digital connectivity,” Helen said. “But right now we don’t have that in rural NSW. I am determined to ensure that situation changes,” Helen said.

“We are tired of our phones and computers dropping out. Put simply we deserve much better and the telcos need to hear us.”
