Locals encouraged to cut down unwanted fruit trees

Locals not wanting their fruit trees in their yard are being encouraged to cut them down, or get in touch with Fruit Fly Murray Valley.

The Mildura-based group says crews can remove fruit trees for free if they live on a residential block in Red Cliffs or Robinvale.

It comes as another fruit fly outbreak has been declared in the Riverland.

With the seasons changing, authorities are continuing their work to eradicate the pest, with the latest discovery in Murtho, adding the Murtho E outbreak which is very close to the Murtho C outbreak zone.
