RCV says still major obstacles to housing targets

Regional Cities Victoria has welcomed the news that boundaries will be put in place for infrastructure in some of the state’s biggest regional hubs, but says there are still major obstacles to the state’s new housing targets.

Mildura was set the goal of eight and a half thousand new houses by 2051, RCV saying the state needs to address barriers to housing if they want local governments to hit these targets.

The network is made up of mayors and CEOs from ten of the state’s biggest regional cities, including Mildura, and they’ve named affordability, a shortage of town planning experts, and infrastructure such as roads and water pipes as key issues.
