Swan Hill Rural City Council is backing Rural Council Victorian’s call for the Federal Government to establish a Local Government Commissioner.
The local council says Canberra is a long way from rural Victoria and it can be hard to get local issues on the national agenda.
They say that having a permanent voice in Canberra will mean better and faster action on things like sustainable council funding, infrastructure spending, housing and roads maintenance.

Council says better communication and faster decisions will benefit everybody.
