Swan Hill Rural City Council is encouraging locals and visitors to be mosquito safe this summer.
They say as the weather warms up, so do those pesky mozzies.
The local government organisation is encouraging people to protect themselves and their family from mosquito-borne diseases by following these simple tips:
Cover up – Wear long, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.
Apply repellent – Use insect repellents containing DEET or icaridin/picaridin.
Tip it out – Empty any standing water around your home (toys, buckets, plant saucers).
Check your screens – Ensure windows and doors are fitted with insect screens.
Avoid peak mozzie hours – Try to stay indoors during dawn and dusk.
