Energy Safe Victoria is warning any failure to follow safety laws and regulations can have serious consequences.
It comes after a licensed gasfitter was fined one-thousand dollars, without conviction, over safety risks at a Mildura restaurant.
The authority says there can be a lot of people at a business at any time and they can be put in danger if a gas leak causes a fire or explosion.
