Fire ash impact on the Murray

Ash and sediment from bushfires could have an impact on the Murray Darling Basin if and when the rain arrives.

The basin authority says the fires are exected to impact water quality in some catchments with the ash and sediment expected to be washed into some streams rivers and dams.

It comes as the authority continues to deal with blue-green algae alerts along the river including Menindee Lakes and Lake Weatherell.
