Sussan Ley could become the Liberal Party's deputy leader.

The Member for Farrer's name is one being raised as a possibility for the deputy role, with the party looking at a woman for the position.

Ley has been the Member for Farrer since 2001, when she won the seat after the resignation of former Deputy Prime Minister Tim Fischer, who held the seat for a number of years.

There will also be interest in who will lead the party in opposition, with Scott Morrison stepping down following the election defeat.
