Total Fire Ban again today

December 11, 2023 7:33 am in by

A Total Fire Ban has again been declared for the Mallee today with the Fire Danger rating listed as Extreme.

The CFA is bracing for a hot and windy one before a wind change and gusts of up to 40 kilometres an hour.

The fire authority says conditions will make it hard for crews to suppress a blaze if one starts.

Mildura is in for a top of 41 today and tomorrow.

No fires can be lit, or be allowed to remain alight, in the open up until midnight tonight.

Residents are also being encouraged to ensure they have their fire plans in place and understand how an increased fire risk can impact them.

Meanwhile, a Community Information message has been issued for a tree fire at Nichols Point.

Emergency crews were called to the blaze around half past five yesterday afternoon.

While there’s NO immediate threat and no action is required, crews have been monitoring the situation overnight.
